BEST PRACTICE CRITERIA
To join EcoLuxury Retreat of the World, each accommodation facility has to meet the requirements set out in our BEST PRACTICE CRITERIA, a system of compliance and fulfillment measuring the level of Sustainability of each Retreat and its contribution to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) of Agenda 2030.
Developed by our experts in Sustainability applied to Tourism and in collaboration with Bocconi University of Milan, the Ecoluxury selection system takes into account the different standards and guidelines dictated by international organizations in the last decade, such as UNWTO (World Tourism Organization) and GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council).
The criteria provided by the EcoLuxury Best Practice are used to assess the ability of high-end facilities to offer the maximum experience for the guest, with the lowest environmental impact for the territory and the greatest benefit for the local community.
The performance of each Retreat is measured by indicators regarding:
a) the environment and the use of natural resources
b) cultural heritage and the interaction with the local community
c) sustainable management and corporate social responsibility
d) the authenticity and quality of the services offered
ECOLUXURY RATING TENTS
At the end of the evaluation process, the Retreat found to be suitable receive a score expressed in number of tents (RATING TENTS), which reflects the percentage of requirements met by the Best Practice Criteria.

Requirements met between 41 and 75%: the Retreat controls and significantly reduces its environmental impact and takes innovative measures. It actively contributes to the protection of cultural heritage and local socio-economic development with initiatives to support communities.
|3 RATING TENTS
Requirements met more than 76%: the Retreat employs sustainable practices in all areas of its business. It contributes significantly to the socio-economic development of the place where it operates and implements important projects for the conservation of its natural or cultural heritage. It adopts social responsibility policies and promotes initiatives to support its community.
|4 RATING TENTS
A fourth tent is assigned to the Retreat that in addition to met the 3 tent level requirements, is in possession of a certification of sustainable tourism issued by accredited bodies.
