MISSION: ECOLUXURY'S GOALS

MISSION

Ecoluxury Retreats of the World promotes relations between high-end hospitality entrepreneurs committed, through their activities, to developing, supporting and financing projects aimed at the economic growth of their territories and the preservation of the cultural and environmental heritage that surrounds them.

The aim we have set ourselves is to be a laboratory in which we can facilitate a comparison between actors operating in the same fields, who, through their exclusive service, lead the guest to indirectly finance projects and thus facilitate responsible and aware tourism.

By acting as a link between the final consumer and the Retreat, talking with Travel Agencies and Tour Operators, our mission is to contribute to the choice of virtuous structures recognisable by the Ecoluxury brand on the part of B2B and B2C customers, returning benefits in terms of environmental, social and economic value to the economic cycle of local communities.

The Ecoluxury activity is aimed at:

In 2015, the world's governments adopted the United Nations 2030 Agenda and established the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). According to the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), Tourism can directly and indirectly contribute to the achievement of these goals by 2030. Ecoluxury, with the GIVING BACK concept, wants to promote in the tourism sector the implementation of projects that go in this direction and that cover the different aspects highlighted in the UNWTO's Tourism4Sdgs platform.

Ecoluxury represents a guarantee for customers against green-washing and an international showcase for Retreats committed to protect their territories. It is a global network of enlightened entrepreneurs and precursors of Sustainable Tourism, who have realized important conservation reserves or recovered from the abandonment historical site. People who make "luxury" the tool to offer their guests the privilege of discovering authentic and protected places. Ecoluxury provides many initiatives aimed at fostering the cooperation between entrepreneurs, and the ECOLUXURY FAIR is the right occasion to meet each others and sharing experiences, to inspire future generations.

SUSTAINABILITY COMMUNICATION: THE DIALOGUE BETWEEN HOTEL AND CLIENT

As part of the transition to full sustainable efficiency we record that most hotel tourism businesses do not act proactively, worse they offload their inefficiencies onto their clients. An example: in almost every hotel, regardless of level, category and quality, we find in the bathroom or room a note that informs us in short: since the hotel management is sensitive to the issue of sustainability, you Guest, help us to consume less electricity and water for washing linen and tablecloths and towels. How? Those that you want washed throw them on the floor, those that you want to reuse, hang them up. The message concludes with a THANK YOU from management for helping the hotel consume less. In other cases even helping to "save the world." Certainly clients are happy to contribute to reducing emissions, even to saving the world if possible but, in our opinion, this message actually generates negative effects.

These main ones:

  1. Dumps the negligence and liabilities of hotel organization management on the client.
  2. It lags the hotel enterprise in progressing on reducing electricity and water consumption.
  3. Hotels with prices starting from Euro 3/400 up to and over Euro 3000/5000 per room per night, should not pass on their delays on the subject of consumption savings and efficiencies to the guest.
  4. The client reading the card, feels involved in the "mission" of the hotel, but after a few minutes, he may begin to think whether what is written is right or not. Do I have to pay more to have my linens washed? Already paying for a luxury room, why should I pay more for an included service, and if I want the linen washed, why have guilt?
  5. It saves the hotel money and it is not explained where this savings goes. Into the pockets of the property?

On the contrary, we believe that the hotel should constantly activate monitoring on waste reductions, consumption and gradual improvements and implementations. And these proactive actions communicate them to the client. Even more so for luxury hotels. We have summarized in the attachment the new vision of the message to the guest. ECOLUXURY RATING & BEST PRACTICES FOR SUSTAINABILITY

Ecoluxury carefully selects the high-end facilities that intend to be part of the Retreats of the World Collection, based on its own evaluation system attesting their sustainability. Ecoluxury promotes and gives advices about the BEST PRACTICES to be implemented to minimize negative effects on the environment and to maximize benefits for local communities. It supports Retreat Projects that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals of UN Agenda 2030. The Ecoluxury evaluation system has been developed by experts in sustainable tourism. Aligned with the international standards dictated by the GSTC and the UNWTO, it consists of a number of requirements to be accomplished by the Retreat. The percentage of requirements met determines the final result of the selection process and RATING TENTS obtained by each Retreat.

Ecoluxury particularly promotes Retreats carring out important projects to protect their territories and to benefit host communities.
