Partnerdhip: 1The "Safe Water for Schools" program was created with a simple yet essential goal: to guarantee clean drinking water to students living in the most remote areas, where access to safe water sources remains out of reach.
Providing safe water inside schools is one of the most effective ways to protect children's health, reduce waterborne illnesses, and ensure they can attend classes regularly.
To achieve this, the project collaborates with Vestergaard, the manufacturer of LifeStraw filtration systems. Instead of relying on complex or invasive infrastructure, the program installs community filters directly within schools.
These are highly advanced, eco-friendly devices capable of removing over 99.99% of bacteria, viruses, and parasites without the use of chemicals or the need for electricity or batteries. Each purifier can treat up to 100,000 liters of water, meeting the needs of an entire school for three to five years.
This project is supported by the following properties: Chobe Chilwero Lodge (Botswana), Olonana Lodge (Kenya), Tambarare Camp (Kenya), Kitirua Plains Lodge (Kenya), Ngorongoro Crater Camp (Tanzania), Swala Camp (Tanzania), Sussi & Chuma Lodge (Zambia), Kichakani Camp (Tanzania), and Gorilla Forest Lodge (Uganda).

Guests staying at the lodge have the opportunity to purchase a LifeStraw filter in advance and personally attend its installation at the receiving school—witnessing firsthand the tangible impact of their donation and actively contributing to the initiative.

The lodge's amenities include a cosy bar, a lounge perfect for relaxation and a refined dining area with panoramic views of the rainforest, where guests can rejuvenate after a day's trekking. A raised platform allows guests to dine al fresco, surrounded by the enveloping sounds of nature.
The lodge's strategic location, a stone's throw from the starting point of gorilla-watching treks, makes it a unique place.
