Neituri’s commitment to biodiversity extends beyond the resort itself. The 22-hectare lakeside estate is FSC-certified, guaranteeing that the entire woodland is managed in accordance with strict environmental and biodiversity standards. The estate’s forest alone has currently sequestered over 8,000 tonnes of CO₂, averaging 137 tonnes of CO₂ per year, and carbon stocks are therefore expected to increase by approximately 685 tonnes of CO₂ between 2026 and 2031. Furthermore, the same conservation principles are applied to another 88-hectare forest property, also FSC-certified and belonging to the same owner, which comprises both protected forest areas and a Stone Age archaeological site, whilst supporting biodiversity and long-term carbon storage.
Around 9 per cent of the total land area is subject to special management. Finnish forestry is governed by strict legislation; in addition, the FSC standard requires extremely specific protective measures.
Although the resort is situated on the shores of one of the region’s cleanest lakes, Neituri Manor actively contributes to the restoration of the surrounding freshwater ecosystems through voluntary initiatives and collaboration with a local water conservation association. These efforts help to improve water quality, enhance biodiversity, and strengthen the ecological resilience of the surrounding lakes.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
The project aims to connect visitors with Finland’s unique forest ecosystems. Upon request, guests can explore protected forest areas, learn about sustainable Finnish forestry and discover how responsible land management supports biodiversity, the health of forest ecosystems and the long-term resilience of natural landscapes.
By combining conservation, environmental education and nature-based hospitality, the project demonstrates how luxury tourism can actively contribute to the protection of natural and cultural heritage for future generations.
Guests may, on request, explore the Stone Age archaeological site located on the estate’s grounds.
Neituri Manor, which has recently been awarded Green Key certification, is a private estate in the Nordic style, nestled in Finland’s Central Lake District – a little-known region characterised by unspoilt lakes and vast forests. Surrounded by 22 hectares of private woodland, the property offers an exclusive retreat for up to 16 guests, designed for family get-togethers, leadership retreats, board meetings and fully bespoke stays.
The manor blends Finnish heritage with contemporary comfort, creating an environment where nature sets the pace. The spacious communal areas, floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lake, the large fireplace, the open-plan kitchen and the dedicated meeting spaces make the property ideal for relaxation as well as for socialising and focused work.
The estate comprises the main manor house, a dedicated sauna building, a lakeside pavilion, the traditional Laavu and the historic Taverna. Private footpaths connect the buildings to the forest and the lakeshore, allowing guests to experience nature directly from the property.
Every stay is tailored to the group’s needs and aspirations, combining wellness, culinary experiences, outdoor adventures and moments of tranquillity. In summer, you can paddle on the lake, go fishing, walk in the forest and enjoy the very long Nordic days; in winter, the snow-covered landscape provides the backdrop for husky safaris, snowmobile excursions, cross-country skiing and ice fishing, right through to evenings spent watching the Northern Lights.
At the heart of the experience is the Finnish sauna, an ancient ritual of wellbeing and connection with nature.
