Begin at Porta Sant’Agostino, which leads to the main square, surrounded by historic buildings and the San Francesco church-museum, home to Benozzo Gozzoli’s masterpiece fresco cycle on the life of Saint Francis—a hidden gem of the Renaissance.
End the visit with a wine tasting of the famous Montefalco Sagrantino, a bold red wine that symbolizes the region.
