The journey begins in northern India, amid the vibrant atmosphere of Delhi and the timeless splendour of Agra, before immersing itself in the colours and charm of Rajasthan. You will pass through cities that seem to have come straight out of a fairy tale: Udaipur, the romantic city of lakes; Jodhpur, enveloped in the indigo hues of its houses; Jaipur, the elegant and majestic capital of the region. In the heart of the wilderness, Ranthambore National Park offers the rare thrill of encountering tigers in their natural habitat. The journey ends in Mumbai, a fascinating and contradictory metropolis, one of the most beautiful and intriguing cities in India. Accompanying the experience is the comfort and elegance of a stay in the prestigious Taj Hotels chain, making the trip even more memorable.

Tour itinerary

Day 1, Delhi

Arrival in Delhi, border and customs formalities, then meeting with our representative and transfer to the hotel.

Day dedicated to visiting Delhi: the Red Fort from the outside; the Jama Majid Friday Mosque; the Sikh Gurudwara Bangla Sahib Temple; visit to the mausoleum of Emperor Humayun, in a beautiful garden maintained by the Aga Khan Foundation, and visit to the Qutb Minar archaeological park, the 72-meter-high 13th-century Victory Tower, symbol of Delhi. Lunch and dinner at leisure. Overnight stay.

Day 2, Delhi – Agra

Breakfast. Transfer to Agra. Arrival and check-in at the hotel. Lunch at leisure. Afternoon visit to the Taj Mahal (closed on Fridays), India's most famous building made of pure Makrana marble in a beautiful garden, built between 1632 and 1648 by order of the Great Mughal Shah Jahan in honour of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The tour ends with a visit to Agra Fort, a gigantic construction dating back to 1565 with walls over 20 meters high, overlooking the sacred Jamuna River. Dinner at leisure and overnight stay.

Day 3, Agra – Ranthambore

Breakfast. Transfer to Ranthambore National Park. Lunch at leisure. Arrival and check-in at the lodge. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4, Ranthambore

Early in the morning, enjoy a private game drive with an English-speaking ranger. Return to the lodge for breakfast. Free morning to relax. Lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a second private game drive with an English-speaking ranger. Dinner at the lodge and overnight stay.

NB: Ranthambore Park is closed on Wednesdays.

Day 5, Ranthambore – Jaipur

Breakfast. Transfer to Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan. Arrival and check-in at the hotel. Lunch on your own. In the afternoon, visit the City Palace complex, including the palace, museum, audience courtyard, and Jai Singh II's Astrological Observatory.  Dinner on your own and overnight stay.

Day 6, Jaipur

Breakfast. Travel to Amber, the Rajput capital before the founding of Jaipur, to visit the impressive Man Singh Fort, dating from the late 16th century. Travel up to the fort, which is on a hill, by Jeep. Photo stop at the Palace of Winds, built in red sandstone; the facade is a series of niches and windows, almost a thousand, finely crafted, reminiscent of lace. It served as an observatory from which the women of the court could watch the life of the city without being seen. Lunch on your own. Afternoon visit to one of the famous local markets and tuk-tuk tour of the old city. Free dinner and overnight stay.

NB: Viaggi Dell'Elefante cannot guarantee the correct treatment of the elephants used for the climb to Amber Fort; therefore, we have decided that the best choice for our travellers is to make this journey by jeep; if you wish to climb Amber Fort on elephant back, you can do so by requesting it on site from our staff and signing a waiver.

Day 7, Jaipur – Jodhpur

Breakfast. Transfer to Jodhpur, the blue city. Free lunch. Hotel accommodation. Afternoon visit to the beautiful Mehrangarh Fort, built in 1459, which dominates the city from the top of a cliff and still has magnificent cannons on its ramparts; the Clock Tower, located in the heart of the old town; free dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8, Jodhpur – Ranakpur- Udaipur

Breakfast. Departure for Udaipur, the city of lakes. Arrival at the fantastic Ranakpur Temple (1439) with its roof supported by 440 carved columns, one of the wonders of India for the fineness of its sculptures (audio guide in Italian). Lunch on your own. Continue to Udaipur. Arrival and hotel check-in.  In the late afternoon, boat trip on the lake (shared with other passengers). Dinner at leisure and overnight stay.

Day 9, Udaipur - Mumbai

Breakfast. Visit to the City Palace, a complex of royal palaces built on the shores of Lake Pichola, and the Jagdish Temple. Lunch on your own. Afternoon transfer to the airport and flight to Mumbai. Arrival and check-in at the hotel. Dinner on your own and overnight stay.

Day 10, Mumbai

Breakfast. Motorboat trip on Bombay Bay to visit the ancient caves on Elephanta Island, carved between 450 and 750 AD, with magnificent statues (site closed on Mondays; excursion subject to sea conditions). Return to the hotel. Lunch on your own. Afternoon, orientation tour of the city, which, with over 18 million inhabitants, is the largest city in India, the economic engine of the country, and the centre of the film industry (Bollywood). See the strange Victorian Gothic architecture, Marine Drive, and the Mani Bhawan museum dedicated to Gandhi. Dinner on your own. Room available until transfer to the airport.

The price includes:

- Domestic flights for the Udaipur-Mumbai routes, in economy class, taxes included
- 11 nights' accommodation in the hotels indicated or similar
- Breakfast, except in Ranthambore where full board is provided
- Transfers and sightseeing tours in a vehicle for exclusive use
- Entrance fees to monuments
- Local Italian and English-speaking guides (subject to availability, one per location)
- 2 private game drives in Ranthambore with English-speaking ranger
- Sightseeing tours as indicated in the itinerary

The proposed accommodations are subject to confirmation at the time of booking. Please note that the order of the stops may be reversed based on lodge availability without changing or altering the quality of the program itself.

For operational reasons, adverse weather conditions, or force majeure, the order of visits to the various cities may be subject to change. We apologize for any inconvenience not attributable to our organization.

Tips are not included and are at the discretion of the customer. We suggest an amount of approximately 8-10 euros per day per person for the guide and approximately 5-7 euros per day per person for the driver.

Meals are buffet style (served in the buffet restaurant/coffee shop restaurant) and set menu in restaurants during excursions.

According to new Indian regulations, only one piece of luggage weighing a maximum of 15 kg may be checked in and only one piece of hand luggage weighing a maximum of 7 kg may be carried.

Triple rooms are actually double rooms with an extra bed/sofa bed added. Not recommended for adults. Obviously, the extra bed or sofa bed will reduce the living space in the room.
