From vibrant Palermo to the Temples of Agrigento, passing through the salt pans of Trapani, the ruins of Segesta, and timeless villages, this journey blends millennia of culture, breathtaking landscapes, and refined gastronomic experiences.

With stays in elegant accommodations such as the Ecoluxury Retreat Foresteria Planeta, you will live Sicily’s most authentic and enchanting side, with guided tours, tastings, local cuisine, and unforgettable moments of relaxation.

Tour itinerary

Day 1, arrival in Palermo

Arrive in Palermo by flight (not included in the package) and take a private transfer to your downtown hotel. In the afternoon meet your guide for a private tour of the city’s highlights. Besides the iconic landmarks, our guide will reveal some local gems known only to insiders.

Dinner is on your own at one of the city’s many restaurants. Overnight stay.

Day 2, Palermo and Monreale

After breakfast enjoy some free time exploring Palermo’s characteristic markets. Ballarò, Vucciria, and Capo reveal the authentic heart of the city—voices, aromas, colours, fresh produce, street food, and local crafts. Strolling among the stalls is a vivid experience blending tradition, culture, and conviviality in the core of genuine Sicily.

In the afternoon transfer privately to Monreale, where with a guide you’ll visit the famous Duomo and discover its golden Byzantine mosaics, Norman architecture, and centuries-old stories. You’ll explore the main nave, the Benedictine cloister, and the majestic Christ Pantocrator, symbols of Sicilian faith and art.

Return to Palermo for overnight stay.

Day 3, discovering Western Sicily

In the morning you’ll be transferred to the airport to pick up your rental car and begin exploring western Sicily.

Along the journey to your new lodging at Ecoluxury Retreat Foresteria Planeta in Menfi, we suggest stopping at Segesta (entrance not included). In Segesta you’ll have the chance to visit the majestic Doric temple—perfectly preserved—and its theater offering breathtaking views over the surrounding valley. Wandering among ruins and panoramas, you will uncover the ancient history of this timeless Sicilian city.

Arrive at the hotel and enjoy free time to take advantage of the property’s amenities. Overnight stay.

Day 4, the Salt Route

Drive to Trapani, then take a spectacular cable car up to Erice from which you can enjoy panoramic views of the sea and the Egadi Islands. Erice is a charming medieval village perched on a mountain, with narrow cobblestone streets, ancient churches, castles, and fortified walls—a journey back in time, perfect for tasting Sicilian history, culture, and the sweet pastries for which the village is famous.

Return to Trapani, then follow the “salt route” toward Marsala—a scenic road dotted with salt pans, towers, and windmills, with stunning views and the unmistakable scent of the sea.

Stop at the historic salt pans and take a boat into the Stagnone lagoon, then visit the island of Mozia and its Phoenician civilization museum (entrance not included).

Back on land, we suggest enjoying an aperitif at the salt pans at sunset, when they glow orange and red, before returning to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 5, Sicilian Wines and Cuisine

After several days exploring, slow down and immerse yourself in Sicily’s flavours with a cooking course led by an expert chef.

At Tenuta Ulmo Planeta, in the heart of Sicily, you’ll explore Sicilian tastes—choose a course focused on traditional flavours or, if you’re an experienced cook, refine your techniques with fine dining proposals.

After a lunch featuring the fruits of your work, you’ll discover Planeta’s exquisite wines. With six wineries across five terroirs, each interpreting Sicily’s great varieties, you’ll be immersed in an unparalleled oenological journey.

After these experiences, enjoy some free time. Overnight stay.

Day 6, the Valley of the Temples

In the morning, accompanied by a private guide, visit the beautiful Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. This guided tour immerses you in the grandeur of ancient Akragas. The guide will lead you through Doric temple remains—like those of Juno and Concordia—recounting stories of the city and its deities. Strolling among columns and ancient walls, you will discover fascinating details about art, religion, and daily life in ancient Greek society.

On the return route, we suggest stopping at Scala dei Turchi: a natural wonder of white cliffs overlooking the sea. The limestone rocks, sculpted by wind and water, form an impressive staircase. A little paradise perfect for a panoramic pause.

Overnight stay.

Day 7, a Free Day Between Sea and History

Today is at your disposal—relax at your resort, make use of the spa, or enjoy a beach day using the services of Planeta Insula Beach Club. Alternatively, we suggest an itinerary starting in Selinunte to explore the archaeological park, admiring ancient temples against a blue sky.

Then stop at nearby sandy beaches where crystal-clear waters invite you for a refreshing swim.

In the afternoon, head to Mazara del Vallo to stroll through its historic alleys and enjoy dinner based on fresh local catch, perhaps by the sea. A day of culture, relaxation, and good food to crown your stay in Sicily.

Day 8, departure

After breakfast, head to Palermo airport in time to return your rental car before your return flight.
