Safe Water for Schools Program - Tambarare

| Kenya | Riserva Masai Mara

The Safe Water for Schools Program provides water filters to remote schools where access to safe drinking water is limited and difficult, thanks to a partnership with Vestergaard. Ensuring clean water is one of the most effective ways to improve the quality of life in communities. The program introduces a sustainable and non-invasive solution by installing high-capacity community filters that transform contaminated water into safe drinking water, eliminating at least 99.99% of bacteria, viruses, and protozoan parasites. Each system can purify up to 100,000 litres of water, enough to serve a school for three to five years. The filters are chemical-free and require no electricity or batteries. Guests also have the opportunity to purchase a LifeStraw filter in advance and personally witness its installation at the school.

Tambarare Camp, an A&K Sanctuary

Overlooking the grassy plateau of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Tambarare Camp is an exclusive retreat immersed in unspoiled African landscape, where the Big Five roam freely, including the last two northern white rhinos left on Earth. We are in the heart of the Laikipia plateau in central Kenya: a vast region that is gently rolling yet rugged, capable of conveying a sense of primordial grandeur and timeless charm.

In recent decades, Laikipia has established itself as one of the most virtuous conservation models in East Africa, with extraordinary results, especially in the protection of rhinos. In this context, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy – home to Tambarare Camp – has played a decisive role, becoming a symbol of success and concrete commitment. As a privileged base from which to explore this wild nature, surrounded by discreet and never ostentatious luxury, Tambarare is unrivalled.

The camp has only 10 luxury safari tents, characterized by contemporary elegance, and a private villa, making it the most exclusive in the area. Located in the shadow of Mount Kenya, it reflects a deep respect for the environment thanks to its careful, low-impact design, which nevertheless surprises and fascinates. The colors and textures echo the surrounding nature: sun-bleached woods, wicker lampshades, vibrant fabrics, and intense portraits of Samburu women. The canvas ceilings and soft lighting contribute to a refined and welcoming atmosphere.

Strategically located opposite an important wildlife gathering point, the camp offers spectacular views of buffalo, zebras, and rhinos grazing on the plains. The main tent, furnished with comfortable sofas and inviting seating, is ideal for relaxation, while the adjacent Boma Bar is perfect for an aperitif at sunset, sharing stories under the immense African sky. Tambarare is, ultimately, an intimate and sophisticated retreat, where impeccable service and indulgent comfort blend in perfect harmony with the natural environment.
