The Environmental Conservation Program is an initiative aimed at protecting biodiversity, preserving natural resources, and reducing the environmental impact of the lodge's operations. Developed in accordance with the environmental protection and conservation guidelines of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA), the program seeks to make a tangible contribution to safeguarding the unique ecosystem of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Through a series of concrete actions, the lodge promotes responsible resource management and encourages sustainable practices involving the property, staff, guests, and local communities. The program encompasses various initiatives dedicated to environmental conservation and the responsible use of natural resources. The lodge grounds and surrounding natural environment form part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area ecosystem—a territory of extraordinary natural value and vital importance for biodiversity conservation. To help protect this heritage, the lodge carries out tree planting with native species, soil erosion prevention, and responsible land management, aiming to minimize disturbance to the natural environment.
Tree planting takes place both within the property and in the surrounding communities. These activities help foster biodiversity, protect and enhance soil quality, restore habitats, and increase natural carbon sequestration. Species planted typically include bamboo, Cordia africana, Combretum molle (Velvet Bushwillow), mango, avocado, and jamun (Syzygium cumini).
