Along the way, enjoy the changing landscapes — from vine-covered hills to open plains dotted with small villages and noble estates.

Before reaching the city, stop in Stupinigi, a masterpiece of Piedmontese Baroque architecture and one of the royal residences of the House of Savoy, today recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you’ll admire the Royal Palace of Turin, once residence of the Savoy dynasty, and the baroque Palazzo Madama, blending medieval foundations with Juvarra’s graceful architecture. Your guide will reveal Turin’s unique history, from its Roman origins and royal past to its role as Italy’s first capital, while uncovering elegant squares, hidden courtyards, and artistic treasures. The atmosphere of grandeur and quiet sophistication is unmistakable, enhanced by the rhythm of trams, arcades, and timeless cafés.

After the guided visit, enjoy leisure time to explore at your own pace. Discover the city’s historic cafés, where philosophers, artists, and statesmen once gathered. Don’t miss Caffè Al Bicerin, founded in 1763, where you can taste the city’s signature drink: the Bicerin, a blend of espresso, chocolate, and cream. Linger over this ritual of Turin’s elegant past before continuing your personal exploration of the city.

Day 6, Royal Palaces

Just outside Turin lies the magnificent Reggia di Venaria Reale, one of the grandest royal residences of Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Accompanied by a private guide, step into this Baroque masterpiece, created in the 17th century for the House of Savoy as a royal hunting retreat. Make a stop at the Fort of Bard, an extraordinary example of nineteenth-century military architecture dramatically positioned above the Dora Baltea River. This imposing fortress, meticulously restored, now serves as a cultural hub hosting several museums and art exhibitions. You can ascend to the upper terraces via panoramic glass elevators, which reveal sweeping views of the valley and surrounding mountains. Take time to explore the medieval village of Bard at the foot of the fortress, with its stone alleys, artisan boutiques, and charming cafés.

Continuing your drive northward, the road begins to climb toward the heart of the Aosta Valley. The scenery becomes increasingly dramatic, with alpine pastures, vineyards clinging to steep slopes, and castles perched on rocky outcrops. Upon arrival at your mountain hotel, check in and take in the fresh alpine air.

Day 8, hiking in the Italian Alps

A day of hiking in the Aosta Valley offers a perfect balance of adventure, nature, and serenity. The morning begins with crisp alpine air and the sound of rushing streams as you set out along a well-marked mountain trail. The path winds through lush meadows dotted with wildflowers and larch forests that open onto sweeping views of snow-capped peaks.

The pace can be as relaxed or as challenging as you wish, with plenty of time to pause and appreciate the scenery, the play of sunlight on distant glaciers, the scent of pine, and the soft ringing of cowbells from nearby pastures. Around midday, a scenic clearing or a lakeside spot becomes the ideal setting for a picnic or for a stop in a mountain hut. After lunch, you can rest in the quiet of nature, feeling the warmth of the sun and the cool breeze drifting down from the peaks. The return walk in the afternoon brings changing light and new perspectives. Overnight at your hotel in the Val d’Aosta alpine area.
