Arrival in the morning in Colombo and border and customs procedures. Meeting with one of our representatives and transfer to a "reserved lounge" waiting for luggage. Transfer to the local airport and flight to Sigiriya. The flight is very scenic and you can observe the mountains, streams and the jungle. Upon arrival in Sigiriya transfer by car to Polonnaruwa. Lunch at a local farm near Pollonnaruwa. After lunch excursion to the beautiful Minneriya National Park. At the end continue to Dambulla. Arrival and hotel accommodation. Free dinner and overnight.

Breakfast. Excursion to Sigiriya and visit the magnificent Fortress, one of the seven World Heritage Sites (stairway of about 1200 steps). Late afternoon transfer to the Kandalama reserve, and short boat ride with views of the surrounding landscape. Meeting with elephants and possibility to interact with them. Visit of the cave complex of Dambulla, 5 caves dug into a 150 mt high rock, with murals on the life of Buddha and also large sculptures. Transfer to Kandy. Stop in Matale to visit a spice garden. Typical local lunch. Upon arrival in Kandy, capital of the Sri Lankan kingdom from the 16th century to 1815,  visit to the Temple of the Tooth of Buddha, famous relic venerated by Buddhists. Accommodation at the hotel. Morning visit to the famous and beautiful Botanical Garden. A 45 minutes transfer to Pilimatalawa, a very quiet suburb of Kandy, for visiting a traditional local dance school.At the end transfer to Gampola, near Kandy. Here will meet for lunch Jacques Souliè to talk about the kingdoms of Kandy and Gampola. Return to the hotel in Kandy and rest of the day free to relax. Free dinner and overnight.

Check-out and morning dedicated to exploring the city of Kandy, passing by the upper lake and stopping in the market square with the famous Batik & Gem shops. Continue to the picturesque Peradeniya train station and take the local train to Hatton.
