Description

Established as a winery in 2005, the Castellaro Estate has helped enhance the hamlet of Quattropani, a part of the island of Lipari that had fallen into complete abandonment. The wine estate is designed in harmony with the landscape through architecture where technology blends with tradition for minimal impact on the environment. Among the Malvasia and Black Corinth vines rise the three micro residences dedicated to hospitality. Tenuta di Castellaro is an example of sustainable best practices in energy efficiency and land enhancement.

Itinerary

Day 1: Castellaro Wine Resort Estate

Arrival in Lipari. Reach Tenuta di Castellaro Wine Resort, located 9.5 km from the port by driving along Provincial Road 179. Check-in at your preferred micro-residence.
To begin your relaxing stay, we suggest a tour of the wine estate. You will thus learn the uniqueness of Tenuta di Castellaro, starting with the restoration of sapling cultivation, a very ancient method of Sicilian and Etna tradition in particular, ideal for places with scarce water resources. Solar chimneys and wind tower are the natural methods, dating as their use from the ancient Romans and in the Middle East since the 10th century B.C., respectively, that serve to light and ventilate the winery.
Closing the day with a tasting of the estate's wines at sunset while enjoying the breathtaking view of the sea.

Day 2: Kaolin Quarries

The Kaolin Quarries represent the geologically oldest part of the island of Lipari. The numerous episodes of volcanic activity have produced alterations in the rocks, creating showy polychromes. For the people of Lipari, the Kaolin quarries are a place of strong appeal where the colors of the rocks, the music of the wind and the scent of the sea create a magical atmosphere. To best preserve this site located today within its property, Tenuta di Castellaro began a project to reclaim and enhance the area, which has led to transforming the Cave di Caolino quarries into a geo-mineral park open to all. Tenuta di Castellaro in collaboration with the Aeolian Study Center and the Nesos Association organizes tours with naturalist guides and cultural events to promote this open-air museum, so we recommend spending your morning participating in one of the guided tours characterized by splendid views of the island. In the afternoon you can reach one of Lipari's beautiful beaches such as the white sand beach of Papesca or Valle Muria, ideal for snorkeling. Dinner in one of the restaurants belonging to the Consortium of Restaurateurs of the Aeolian Archipelago, an allenaza created to promote, through intellectual honesty, quality and sustainability, the territory, with its culinary excellence and extraordinary raw materials. Overnight stay.

Day 3: Excursion to nearby islands

Possibility to devote the entire day to an excursion to nearby islands with frequent scheduled services to Salina, Vulcano, Stromboli.
Last night at Tenuta di Castellaro.

Day 4: Goodbye

After breakfast depart for your next destination.
