The Ishikawa Region Group is a project conceived by the founder of Kayotei, Masanori Kamiguchi, who has played a decisive role in the growth and success of numerous small local businesses.
Many of these producers are now direct suppliers to Kayotei, offering ingredients and foodstuffs of the highest quality – healthy and authentic, rooted in the region’s ancient traditions. These are products crafted using artisanal techniques passed down from generation to generation, enabling the creation of exceptional goods without the use of chemicals, ranging from sake and dairy products to wooden items and washi paper.
This deep respect for tradition and consumer health has made the region’s products internationally acclaimed and recognised.
A charming ryokan nestled in nature, located in Shuzenji along the banks of the Katsuura River in the Yamanaka Onsen spa village, just 90 minutes from Tokyo. With over 500 years of history, Kayotei is famous for its open-air onsen set amidst greenery and its Noh stage, where traditional performances are regularly held.
The ryokan has only ten suites, each one different, to offer an intimate and authentic stay. Some rooms have private cedar-wood hot tubs and are furnished in minimalist Japanese style, with tatami floors and shoji sliding panels, striking a perfect balance between elegance and simplicity.
