Madikwe Game Reserve

Jaci’s Private Lodge is located in the Madikwe Game Reserve, in South Africa’s North West Province, in a malaria-free area. The lodge offers an immersive nature experience, characterised by a relaxed atmosphere, warm hospitality and a strong connection with safari. The reserve is known for its varied landscapes, the quality of its guides and its rich wildlife, including the so-called “Madikwe Top 10”: in addition to the Big Five, the reserve is home to cheetahs, African wild dogs, hyenas, hippos and giraffes.

Family-run and with a long history in the reserve, Jaci’s combines colourful, characterful spaces with an informal design. Following the 2025 flood, the lodge was completely rebuilt and reimagined as a single property, while keeping at its heart the philosophy of sharing the bush, spending time together and creating lasting memories.

The Main Lodge is the heart of the property and includes several safari lounges, outdoor decks, an open kitchen, dining areas and spaces dedicated to relaxation. Around the lodge are lookout points, decks and hidden corners from which to observe wildlife in different settings, from elevated areas to waterholes.

The property also features swimming pools, wellness spaces, a river-path walk within the fenced property and areas designed for evenings around the fire. The Marico River runs along the lodge’s boundary with the Limpopo, adding another natural element to the experience. The range of accommodation, including 10 Safari Suites and 3 private villas, offers options ranging from stays for couples to larger, more private solutions for families and groups.

Safari Suites

The six Safari Suites are designed as private, relaxing retreats for couples and ... can accommodate a maximum of two adults. They feature a super king-size bed or twin beds, an open-plan bathroom with bathtub, shower and toilet, a tea and coffee station, vanity, safari-style wardrobe, air conditioning, ceiling fan and Wi-Fi. The lounge opens onto a private outdoor area and a panoramic terrace overlooking the reserve. The spaces are designed to offer comfort and privacy while maintaining a strong connection with the surrounding bush.

Safari Suite Expeditions

The four Safari Suite Expeditions have the same size, layout and features as the ... Safari Suites, but are designed for small families. They can accommodate two adults and up to two children. In addition to a super king-size bed or twin beds, open-plan bathroom, tea and coffee station, air conditioning, ceiling fan and Wi-Fi, they have a lounge that can be converted into a sleeping area for two children. For children aged 6 to 12, two Little Expedition Beds are provided, while a cot is available for younger children.

Kubu Villa

This private three-bedroom villa can accommodate up to six guests. Each room can ... be configured with a super king-size bed or twin beds and has a full en-suite bathroom. The villa includes a fully equipped kitchen, safari bar, dining room and indoor lounges, as well as an outdoor dining area, deck and daybed. Outside, there is a private heated pool and fire pit, overlooking the Marico River. Guests also have a private vehicle for game drives, a dedicated guide, private chef and private host.

Nare Villa

Nare Villa also has three bedrooms and can accommodate up to six guests. Two bed ... rooms can be configured with a super king-size bed or twin beds and have en-suite bathrooms, while the third is a loft room with shower, WC, private balcony and seating area. The villa offers a fully equipped kitchen, safari bar, dining room and indoor lounges, as well as outdoor spaces with terrace, daybed, private heated pool and fire pit. Its position opposite a waterhole makes it possible to observe wildlife throughout the day.

Jaci’s Madikwe House

Jaci’s Madikwe House is a spacious private accommodation option for up to ten ... guests, ideal for large multi-generational families and groups. It comprises four en-suite bedrooms in the main residence and a detached cottage. The cottage also has a private bathroom, mini-fridge, tea and coffee station and private deck. The house features an open-plan kitchen, safari bar, dining room, lounge and a space for reading and working. Outside, there is a spacious deck, hot tub, private heated pool and fire pit.

Dining is an integral part of the Jaci’s experience. The Main Lodge’s open k ... itchen allows guests to watch the chefs prepare the day’s meals. Menus are created using fresh ingredients and, where possible, locally sourced produce. The culinary philosophy focuses on generous, flavourful dishes in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere. Meals can be served in different areas of the property, from outdoor decks to more intimate indoor spaces, or around the traditional open-air boma, allowing guests to experience each moment of the day in a unique way.

For those who wish to stay active during their stay, the Gym Box in each private Suite or Villa, provides a selection of equipment for simple, independent workouts, allowing guests to maintain their fitness routine even while enjoying the bush. The 2km river-path route is also a great running trail. Next to the swimming pool, there is an infrared sauna with an outdoor shower.

Elevated above a waterhole and situated beneath a majestic Tamboti tree, it features a double bed and a private wood-fired hot tub. Particularly suited to romantic stays and special occasions, it allows guests to experience the bush after sunset, in keeping with the atmosphere of Jaci’s evenings, often spent around the fire. In addition to the traditional boma, several fireside spaces offer the chance to relax with a drink, share stories and revisit the day’s sightings in an intimate and convivial atmosphere.
