The Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan, called "Druk Yul" (“land of the thunder dragon” in urdu language) descends from the peaks more than 7000 meters high to the Indian plain where the Brahmaputra flows. The northern part of the country, with the Himalayan chain is an almost uninhabited area, while the monsoons between June and September give the center and south a lush nature and subtropical jungles. With government-controlled tourism and few air connections, Bhutan is a difficult country to reach that offers beautiful views and the peculiar Dzong, large castles built mostly in the 17th century, with the role of fortress, monastery, school, administrative center and barracks. The most famous are the "Dzong Cathedral" in Punakha; and the "Dzong Government" in Thimpu, the city where the king resides.
