Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica is a simple elegant ecological lodge situated on the banks of Peru’s Madre de Dios river and is composed of 35 thatched “cabañas” (huts) and a big central hut. Reserva Amazonica combines luxurious furnishing and delectable food with the simplicity of lantern-light and the rich sound of the jungle. The main building consists of a two-story pavilion with cathedral ceiling that houses the dining room, the bar and the main lounge.
The 34 cabañas, raised on stilts, are scattered around the property, some of them overlooking the river. The Lodge, adjacent to the Tambopata National Park, allows guests to experience the region’s wealth of plant and animal life in an authentic setting. Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica offers a variety of attractions to be experienced at different levels of intensity ranging from child-friendly to extreme rainforest treks. The ENA spa, nestled on the banks of the Madre de Dios River, facing Rolin Island, provides a relaxing experience and a great spot for watching Amazonian sunsets.
This is an afternoon excursion, done by boat accompanied by an experienced guide. During the boat ride you will witness an enchanting transformation of the surrounding environment: daytime animals and birds will slowly disappear to make way for nocturnal species. You will discover the characteristics and habits of owls, capybaras and caimans as well as be able to admire the stars of the southern hemisphere during the clearest evenings.
Through one of the trails that stretch for about 7.3 kilometers in the Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica Nature Reserve, you will enter the rainforest ecosystem. You will discover exotic trees such as kapok (Ceiba pentandra) and the beautiful ironwood tree, populated by a wide variety of birds, offering a unique experience for birdwatchers.
