In 2024, Planeta embarked on a new social project of an educational nature and linked to the tourism development of the area: the "Social Cooking School" with the aim of providing a contribution and concrete support to professional training in the field of catering.
The idea is to create a Cooking School within the Collegiate Church of Mary that will lay the foundations for a path of professional insertion of unemployed individuals, fragile individuals and, with the appropriate psychological and social support, even people with disabilities. The courses will be open to anyone who would like to get involved in the now booming restaurant and tourism sectors. Recruitment will take place through the involvement of Caritas to identify potential candidates who will be selected through interviews. The teachers of the training, in addition to the kitchen and dining staff of the Planeta Company, will be local and non-local professionals, artisans, bakers, cheesemakers, farmers, experts in the food and wine sector and all the actors in the area who work in the tourist food and wine sector so as to encourage the sharing of ideas and good practices. The project, free of charge, will start during 2024 with the aim of teaching the preparation of fresh pasta and bread.
La Foresteria Planeta is a wine resort in the heart of western Sicily, perched on a scenic hilltop overlooking the sea, with some of the island's most breathtaking sunsets as its backdrop. Set among the vineyards and olive groves of the Menfi countryside, it stands close to archaeological sites and nature reserves.
This warm, welcoming house embodies the essence and style of the Planeta family's hospitality — the ideal retreat for anyone seeking a peaceful escape. Its 14 rooms take their names from the aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean garden that surrounds them, each one fitted with every comfort and furnished in its own style, striking a fine balance between elegance and function.
Every room opens onto a private terrace looking out over the sea or the Menfi countryside. A walk through the garden leads to a stunning infinity pool, perfect for a refreshing dip after a day in the Sicilian sun, or for a quiet moment of calm as the sun goes down. A kitchen rich in local flavours and the estate's own excellent wines round out a stay that is, in every sense, an experience of nature and culture in equal measure.
