The project developed by Eremito was conceived as a contemporary hermitage inspired by the Italian monastic and spiritual tradition. Whilst not replicating a historic monastery, the project reinterprets the cultural and spiritual values of this tradition in an innovative form of hospitality, where silence, contemplation, simplicity and introspection become central elements of the guests’ experience.
The architecture, the atmosphere of the spaces, the music and certain daily rituals are designed to preserve and convey intangible cultural values—increasingly rare in contemporary tourism—such as slowness, simplicity, reflection and silence. In this way, Eremito offers international travellers the opportunity to connect with an authentic dimension of Italian spiritual and cultural tradition, combining hospitality with intangible heritage.
Elements such as silence, Gregorian chant, the simplicity of the spaces and experiential rituals help to create a unique environment in which the cultural and spiritual dimensions intertwine with the surrounding nature. Eremito has established itself as one of the first examples of contemporary hospitality structured around values of inner reflection and simplicity, promoting internationally a model of accommodation that integrates spirituality, nature and sustainability.

A unique place to rediscover essentiality and immerse yourself in peace: Eremito, an ancient medieval hermitage located in Parrano (Terni), in front of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. This extraordinary retreat has been restored faithfully respecting the original 13th-century structure and following the principles of bioarchitecture and green building. Hermit retains the austerity and charm of ancient monasteries, enriched by the contemporary mysticism of new luxury, in which ecology and spirituality come together in perfect harmony. Hermitage is the ideal place to reconnect with life's essential priorities, often lost in the daily chaos.
One of the pioneers of “Digital Detox” hotels in Italy, Eremito presents itself as a humble yet refined dwelling, the recipient of numerous awards. Guests can stay in the “Celluzze,” 18 ancient monastic cells that have been completely renovated. These understated and essential spaces combine the elegance of the past with modern touches, creating an intimate and sophisticated atmosphere. The restaurant offers a vegetarian and vegan set menu, inspired by Umbrian culinary tradition. The dishes, prepared with the freshest vegetables from the organic garden, seasonal fruits and homemade products such as bread, pasta, jams and desserts, are a tribute to authenticity. During the winter, meals are served in the cozy Refectory, illuminated by the warm light of a large stone fireplace, while in spring and summer people eat under the garden pergola, surrounded by nature.
The relaxation area, carved entirely in the rock, is a corner of rare beauty. Here it is possible to practice yoga, meditation and receive rejuvenating massages. The area includes two steam baths with stone walls, a heated tub with chromotherapy and whirlpool, offering an unparalleled wellness experience. Hermit is not just a place to stay, but a destination for spiritual regeneration.
