Dakhla Dunes Park Preservation

BIOSPHERE CONSERVATION

Project description

In 2008, and in co-operation with the New Valley Governorate, Al Tarfa completed the general assessment and survey of the dune area within the Dakhla Oasis. Believing that such pristine environment should be preserved and properly managed, Al Tarfa has pushed towards officially declaring a seven square kilometers of matchless sand formations, enclosing a complex dune-systems with salt marches, dried lake beds, sanded up wells, peculiar plant cover and buried gardens in a local desert park named The Dakhla Dunes Park. The park is now managed by Al Tarfa and serves the ecotourism development in the New Valley.
