LOCAL SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Project description

The Centre for the Conservation of African Resources, Animals, Communities and Land use (CARACAL) was founded in 2001 with their main focus being environmental conservation, community support and development in the wildlife industry. The centre is also very involved in educational programmes for local children, the rehabilitation of injured animals and birds and also houses a small snake. This Centre is situated about 5 kilometres from Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero and purely a voluntary project with no government funding. Also accommodated at the centre is the Chobe Women’s Arts & Craft Centre where baskets can be bought from the local women helping them with an additional income. Guests staying at Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero will have the opportunity to visit the Caracal Biodiversity Education and to contribute US$10 per person for two hours tour.
