Longitude 131° is a member of Baillie Lodges, a hotel group operating environmentally lodges in remote locations, often included in the World Heritage-listed regions or bordering national and marine parks. In line with the company's commitment to sustainable practices, Longitude 131° was designed and constructed using techniques that minimise its impact on the site and surrounds and is approved under the Commonwealth Environment Protection & Biodiversity Conservation. The lodge is also involved in different projects with Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority, to protect sacred sites in the immediate area of the property. Particular attention is paid to the conservation of the desert eco-system, the use of renewable energy, the waste and water management. Longitude 131 actively seeks engagement with the local community ranging from food producers, local artists, furnishing designers to supporting school education initiatives, community events and work experience programs.
